How to add an audio file and share it privately with another member

One of the most useful features of soundCommons is the ability to share workfiles with other members. This tutorial demonstrates how to upload an audio files and share it with another member without it becoming pubic.
1 - Depending on how many files you need to share, create a new folder and call it Shared Files - make the folder private.

2 - Select "audio" from the add new item drop down menu. You should see this screen:

Select the browse button and locate the file on your hard drive. Be sure there are no spaces or odd characters in the name of the file as this becomes part of the url. When you hit save you should see "sending request to soundcommons" at the bottom of your browser window until it uploads.

3 - Once the file uploads you should see a screen that looks like this:

At this point you can hit the edit tab to change any of the information associated with the file like its title or description.

4 - If you don't want the file to be public, use the state drop down menu to change the state to private.

5 - To share the file with another member or members click the sharing tab. You'll see this window:


6 - Enter the user name of the member you want to share the file with and click perform search. You should see this window when the member is found:


7 - Assign the role of manager or owner then click the assign local role to selected user button

8 - Tell your member buddy the location of the file - that's it.

Note: If you want to share multiple files simply use the sharing tab on the folder that the files are located in.
